This is an amazing story!
Very few works have the right balance of details versus story progression. Some provide too little with no meat to chew on whereas other authors feel the need to address every single detail. Your "revisited" version has just the right amount where I as a reader can fill in the rest to my liking.
Have you read any Brucejedi works? You can find them on foreverchanging. His Katie's Necklace story is one of my top favorites.

I have read some of Brucejedi's stuff over the years, and you're not the first to point me in the direction of his "Katie's Necklace" story, specifically. I can't say that it ranked among my own personal faves, but it's been a long time since I read it and my recollection is hazy, so it's probably worth revisiting.
I would be remiss, however, if I didn't point out that I think your own writing is pretty top-notch. I'm a big fan of your "Practical Joke" story, and I always hoped to see it completed.
